Shreveport Man Sentenced for Illegally Possessing Loaded Firearms at His Residence
Roderick Agnes, 42, of Shreveport, Louisiana, has been
sentenced in U.S. District Court, announced United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown.
United States District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote sentenced Agnes to 112 months (9 years, 4
months) in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, for possession of firearms and
ammunition by a convicted felon and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to evidence presented to the court, law enforcement officers executed a
search warrant at a house on State Street in Shreveport, Louisiana on May 27, 2022. Agnes
lived at the home and was present when the search occurred. Inside the master bedroom of
the residence, law enforcement agents located a loaded Taurus pistol, model: PT1911, caliber:
45 containing seven rounds of ammunition; a loaded Century Arms pistol, model: Canik TP9,
caliber: 9mm containing 12 rounds of ammunition; a Maverick Arms shotgun, Model: 88,
caliber: 12 gauge; approximately 4 ounces of cocaine hydrochloride; digital scales; and over
$2,000 in cash.
The suspected cocaine was submitted to the crime lab for testing and the results
confirmed the substance was in fact cocaine hydrochloride. Agents with the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) examined the recovered firearms and
found all three firearms to be operable. In addition, agents determined that all three firearms
traveled in interstate commerce. Agnes pleaded guilty to the charges on December 6, 2022.
Agnes is a convicted felon, having previously been convicted of Possession of a
Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance in Caddo Parish in 2005. At the time he
possessed the Taurus pistol, the Century Arms pistol, the Maverick Arms shotgun, and the
ammunition on or about May 27, 2022, Agnes knew that he had previously been convicted
of a felony crime and was prohibited from possessing any firearm or ammunition.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and
ATF and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica D. Cassidy. This effort is part of an
