Simmesport R & B singing legend Joe Simon dies

According to a release by the town of Simmesport, Bishop Joe Simon has died. Simon is a famed R & B singer raised in the Simmesport area:

The announcement read:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of music legend and Simmesport native Joe Simon. Bishop Simon passed away on December 13 at the age of 85. His beautiful voice and service to God will be remembered by many around the world.
