Two escapees from Avoyelles Women's Prison recaptured in Alexandria

Two escaped female inmates have been recaptured due to the efforts of a multi-agency operation involving federal, state, parish and municipal departments, the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday.

Reagan Huff and Tiffany Juneau escaped from the APSO Women's Jail Facility in Cottonport Sunday night. Huff was captured near Lee Street in Alexandria on Tuesday. Juneau was captured on Lacassine Drive in Alexandria Wednesday. The multi-agency team included officers from APSO, State Police, State Probation & Parole, the U.S. Marshals Service and Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force. Avoyelles Sheriff David Dauzat said officers from the Marksville, Cottonport, Mansura, Moreauville, Plaucheville and Tunica-Biloxi Tribal police departments also assisted in searching for the escapees.

Upon their arrest, both women were booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

APSO reported that the investigation into the escape is ongoing to determine if anyone aided the inmates in their escape. If the investigation determines there was such assistance, more arrests in the case are likely.

"The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to work with other state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies, and will continue to work with other agencies to bring fugitive criminals to justice," an APSO spokesman said.
