Alaine Spruill, 89, Effie

Funeral services for Mrs. Alaine Sayes Spruill will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Effie, LA. with Rev. Grady Dodge and Rev. Anthony Ranero officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Grove Mausoleum, Effie, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Mrs. Alaine Spruill, age 89, passed away at Riviere De Soleil Community Care Center on Saturday, February 12th, 2022. Mrs. Spruill is preceded in death by her husband, Dwain H. Spruill; parents, Oren and Ovada Gannon Sayes.
Mrs. Spruill was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her priority. She was a lifelong member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She grew up in the church serving first as pianist and later as organist. She also served the church as Sunday school teacher, youth group coordinator, and board member. Her work life of almost 30 years was devoted to education of children. She worked both as a reading resource teacher at the school board office and as a classroom teacher. She taught at Marksville High School, Marksville Elementary School, and Lafargue Elementary School. She touched the lives of her students preparing them to achieve success in all aspects of life.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Oren D. Spruill (Peggy) of Breaux Bridge, LA, Dr. Benjamin Spruill (Myra) of Pineville, LA., and Judge Kerry Spruill (Laura) of Mansura, LA; daughter, Sherry Schayot (Stuart) of Vick, LA. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Effie on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Charlie Molbert, Brandon Spruill, Preston Spruill, Cain Couvillon, Austin Finn, Bill Spruill, Greg Metcalf, and Riley Metcalf. Honorary pallbearers honored to serve will be Cooper Couvillon, Gannon Finn, and Merritt Finn.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Effie in honor of Alaine Sayes.
