Alvin “Al” Peter Danner, 79

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, Alvin “Al” Peter Danner, passed away at the age of 79 in the comfort of his home with his devoted wife beside him. Al was born on January 6, 1943, in New Orleans, LA, to the late Alvin John Danner and Dorothy Delise Danner. Al grew up in New Orleans, LA. He received a B.S. in Engineering at Florida State University, while proudly serving in the United States Air Force. After graduation, he worked for Boeing before deciding to attend Delgado Community College for Culinary Arts. His love for the culinary world became his lifelong career. He began his culinary career as a General Manager at Commander’s Palace and Brennan’s prior to becoming the Food and Beverage Director at several hotels in New Orleans. He was then promoted to Vice President of Food and Beverage at the Grand Casino in MS. He worked for many casinos throughout his career within and outside of the USA: Lake Charles, LA; Marksville, LA; Greenville, MS; Columbus, OH; and Punta Cana, DR. His culinary skills were in Classical French, Italian, Creole, Cajun, Continental, and Asian. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, and golf. He was a member of Chaine Des Rotisseurs, National Hotel Association, International Food and Wine Society, and Le Club de la Tour. He was a loving father and husband who adoredhis children and grandchildren. He always had a witty sense of humor, loved nice suits, shined shoes, and a good steak!

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Susan DuBos Danner; daughter, Nicole Ricaud (Michael); daughter, Natalie Durnall (Wesley); and grandchildren, Ashton, Nathan, Sophia, and Jett.

A Holy Mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church, Moreauville, LA for the repose of the soul of Al Danner on Friday, October 28th at 8:15am, officiated by Father Brian Seiler. All family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart School Aftercare in Memory of Al Danner.
