Barbara Barrows, Mansura native

Barbara A. Barrows (nee Roy), age 86, of O'Fallon, Ill., and long-time resident in Washington, D.C., born July 28, 1936 in Mansura, La., died Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Family, motherhood, and the Catholic Faith were the foundations of Barbara's life. She studied French and social work in college and was employed for 16 years with the Veterans Administration. In her Catholic parishes, she led prayer groups, participated in prison ministry, and was a tour guide at the Washington National Cathedral.

She was preceded in death by her parents Benton and Olga (nee Drouin) Roy.
Surviving are her husband Timothy Barrows, children Alicia (Tom) Scolarici of O'Fallon, Timothy Barrows of Arlington, Va., Christopher (Jen) Barrows of Arlington, Va., and Peter Barrows of Montgomery, Ala.; grandchildren Kristin, Thomas Anthony, Timothy Joseph, and Michael Jeffrey Scolarici; and Kate and Olivia Barrows. Also surviving is her sister Felice Roy Drouin.
The family will receive friends after 9:30 am, Saturday, September 24, 2022 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill., with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:30 am, with Rev. William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
