Candice Newton, 43, Bunkie

A Mass of Christian Burial for Candice Newton will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonport with Rev. John Wiltse officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery #2. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Ms. Newton, age 43 of Bunkie, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at her residence.

Candice was an incredible athlete in high school, where she ran track and played basketball. She loved being outdoors planting flowers and gardening, but her greatest love was spending time with her two boys. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful servant of the Lord.

Candice is preceded in death by her father, Paul “Crepe” Jude Moreau; her maternal grandparents, Richard and Natalie Bochard; and her paternal grandparents, Lester and Lucille Moreau.

Survivors include her two sons, Blake Jude Newton of Bunkie and Matthew Jacob Newton of Bunkie; her mother, Peggy B. and Peter John Lemoine, Sr. of Cottonport; her siblings, Tammy Davis (Darrell) of Raleigh, NC, Jill Moreau Earles of Bunkie, Spencer Lemoine (Courtney) of Cottonport, Annie Newton (Paul) of Cottonport, Sydney Newton (Joseph) of Cottonport and Peter Lemoine, Jr. of Marksville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will include; Preston Earles, Damon Juneau, Paul Newton, Joe Newton, Spencer Lemoine, and Peter Lemoine. Honorary pallbearers are Darrell Davis, Jay Earles and Brooks Riche’.

Friends may visit on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonport.
