Christine Walker Hawkins, Marksville

Christine Walker Hawkins, a loving friend, adventurer, and “mother” to many, passed away on January 10, 2024, in Marksville, leaving behind a legacy marked by passion, dedication, and boundless generosity.

Born on February 22, 1954, Christine spent her early years cultivating a love for adventure and excitement. Her fiery spirit led her to pursue a less ordinary life, filled with adrenaline and thrill and a force to be reckoned with. One of her greatest passions was found on the gun range, where she honed her skills and embraced the challenge of marksmanship. Her time in Africa became a chapter of her life characterized by extraordinary experiences and an adventurous soul.

Returning to her roots in Marksville, Christine redirected her passion into a career that reflected her compassionate nature. She worked as a nurse at the VA Hospital, dedicating herself to the care of veterans who had served their country. Christine's commitment to helping others was unparalleled, earning her numerous accolades and awards for her unwavering devotion to the well-being of those who had sacrificed so much.

Beyond her professional achievements, Christine was known for her generosity and selflessness. She gave of herself without expecting anything in return, touching the lives of countless individuals with her kindness. Her charitable spirit was a testament to her belief in the power of giving and the impact one person could make on the world.

Christine leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, and service. Her memory will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. In celebrating Christine's life, let us remember the passionate, adventurous soul who lived life to the fullest and gave everything she had to make the world a better place.

She is survived by her son, Dennis O’Dale Edwards III; grand-daughter, Cloe Grace Edwards; sister, Marie Bonette (Wayne); brothers, Jay Walker and Mark Walker; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Central Louisiana Food Bank and
ASPCA in Christine's name.

May she rest in peace, and may her legacy inspire us all to live with the same fiery spirit and
unwavering dedication to helping others.
