Cledith Miller Smetak,76, Vick

Funeral services for Mrs. Cledith Miller Smetak will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville with Bro. Denton “Dobbie” Perkins, and Bro. Danny LeBlanc officiating. Interment will be held in the Vick Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

Mrs. Smetak, age 76, of Vick, LA., passed away on Thursady, September 28, 2023 at her home. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Lanette Kay Smetak; husband, Sherman Smetak; parents, Mearl and Littie Cole Miller.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Rodney Smetak of Pineville, LA; daughter Teresa Wilson (David) of Effie, LA; Sisters Murlene Corneille (Clyde) of Pontchatoula, LA, Debbie Gordy (Joe) of Shreveport, LA, and Ruthie Quave (Kent) of Holden, LA; grandchildren, Taylor Miller (Daniel) of Hustonville, KY, Jacob Wilson of McKinney, KY; great-grandchildren, Laken Miller, London Miller, and Lucas Miller of Hustonville, KY. She is also survived by numerous extended family members that cared for her dearly.

Mrs. Cledith was a loving mother, sister, and friend that could be described as a person with a servant’s heart. She lived up to her family nickname “The General” whether it was planning events for home, work, or church. She was a beautician by trade, and owner of Lanette’s Cutting Edge, in Pineville. Mrs. Smetak was also a life long member of Vick Baptist Church, where she was the founder of the Senior Dinner Ministry.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2nd, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville and will reopen on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jacob Wilson, Daniel Miller, Jason Corneille, Dirk Edgeworth, Douglas Quave, And Sean Quave. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clyde Corneille, Joe Gordy, Kent Quave, Joe Smetak, Jr., and David Wilson.
