Cynthia Monica Holmes, Mansura native

Mrs. Cynthia-age 77, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 11:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 Coldwater Rd, Flint, MI 48505. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the service at 10:00 am.

The final resting place will be at St. Paul the Apostle Mausoleum in Mansura, Louisiana at 11:00am on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.

Mrs. Cynthia Monica Holmes was born August 13, 1945, in Mansura, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Stella (Fro) Francisco and the late Aaron Sampson Sr. She was a 1969 graduate of Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana with a degree in English. Cynthia worked at Delphi Automotive (AC Spark Plug) until she retired after 32 years of service and was a proud member of UAW local 651. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe, serving on the church council until her illness.

Cynthia enjoyed sewing, traveling, and entertaining her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all of those who came in contact with her as she was honest, giving, and a joy to know.

Mrs.Cynthia Holmes leaves to cherish her memory: husband of 54 years, Johnny O. Holmes; son, Oran (Rhonda) Holmes of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Francesca (William) Walker of Dayton, Ohio, and Gabrielle (Micah) Scott of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Jejana Holmes, Jalen Holmes, Dejon Holmes, Torian Knott, Milan Scott, Jaxon Scott, Kayden Scott, and Sydney Scott; brother, Aaron (Joan) Sampson of Montgomery, Alabama; sister, Donna Lacour (James Sampson) of Marksville, LA; niece, Adrianna Trice LaCour.

Cynthia was preceded in death by; her mother, Stella "Fro" Francisco.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers from Helping Hands of Flint, Visiting Angels of Frankenmuth, and the hospice team from Heartland Promedica who helped Cynthia in her time of need. A special thanks to Dr. Henry Paulson and Dr. Sami Barmada from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor Hospital. Lewy body Dementia Clinic for helping the family navigate through this disease.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Cynthia Holmes to the University of Michigan Medicine Alzheimer's Disease or to her Alma mater, Grambling State University.
