Daniel Lacombe, 85, Hessmer

A Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel Lacombe will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Rev. Derek Ducote officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Alphonsus Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Lacombe, age 85 of Hessmer, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at his residence.
Daniel was retired from the Avoyelles Parish School Board where he was a bus driver for many years. He was a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 3088. He was a past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights and held various other offices; and past president and officer of the Woodmen of the World. He loved to hunt when he could and his favorite pastime was spending time with his girls, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he loved all so much.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Bordelon Lacombe, an infant daughter, Elizabeth; his parents, Sylvan and Lilian Bernard Lacombe, Sr.; brother, Ervin and Sylvan Lacombe, Jr.; and his sisters, Ina Vellion, Audrey Turner and Earline Moras.
Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Juneau and husband Kyle of Hessmer and Christine Newton and husband Michael of Bunkie; his grandchildren, Natalie Drouin (Tyler), Morgan Newton (Whitney), and Austin Juneau (Lyndsey); and his great-grandchildren, Thomas, Campbell, Elliot, Brigham and Jules.
Pallbearers will include: Morgan Newton, Austin Juneau, Tyler Drouin, Ronnie Lambert, Eric Bordelon, Ethyn Bordelon and Bernie Turner. Honorary pallbearers are; Bobby Boney, Lynwood Sehon, Dennis Ducote, Jr. and Gerald Moras. Cross bearers include; Thomas, Campbell and Elliot Drouin and Brigham Juneau.
Friends may visit on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Darrell Dubroc at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
