David Ellis, 76, Marksville

Funeral services for Mr. David Ray Ellis will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer with Father Edwin Rodriguez officiating. Interment will be at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville.

Mr. Ellis, age 76, of Marksville, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond C. And Hazel M. Hannis Ellis.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife and best friend of over 27 years, Johnna Brouillette Ellis of Marksville; son, William “Bill” Ellis(Jenny) of Sanger, TX; daughters, Janna Cleghorn (Will) of Center Point, and Jade Daire (Colby) of Marksville; sister, Deborah Kay Vinson (Billy) of Port Gibson, MS; grandchildren, Sage LaCombe, Mailee Bernard, Ben Lachney, Ella Grace Daire, Rowen Daire, Gray Ellis, and Aderyn Ellis. He is also survived by numerous extended family and close friends.

Mr. David proudly served our country in the United States Army National Guard of Mississippi. After his military service, he worked hard to provide for his family. Most notable was his ownership of Friendly Fins Pet Store in Marksville, where he and his wife worked for over 27 years. He was a loving husband, father, “Gampaw”, brother, and friend. He never met a stranger, and always gave a gentle wave to anyone he saw. He adored his family, enjoyed being outdoors, and many trips to McDonald’s to solve the world’s problems with his coffee buddies. His devotion to his family and friends, along with his infectious smile and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hessmer.
