Elton Dufour, 77, Evergreen

Funeral services for Elton Joseph Dufour will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Apostolic Lighthouse Church of Bunkie with Rev. David Ducote officiating. Burial will follow in the Church of the Little Flower Cemetery in Evergreen under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home - Bunkie.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Melancon Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. -1:45 p.m
Mr. Dufour, age 77, of Evergreen, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He and his wife, Diane, were owners of Hi-Neighbor Grocery Store for thirty-four years. He loved to hunt rabbits, coons and squirrels. He loved his family deeply and thought the world of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a sense of humor that everyone loved him for. His rabbit dogs were his favorite hobby. He also had a love for his horses and cows all of his life. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Guilot Dufour; his second wife, Irene Ducote Dufour; his brother, Louis Dufour, Jr., his siters, Bessie Chenevert, Eura Lee Francois, Mary Thibodeaux and Betty Scallan.
He is survived by his two daughters, Christine Dufour of Hessmer and Vickie Dufour Ducote and husband, Barney R., of Bunkie; his step-daughter, Brenda Ingo and husband, Gary, of Thibodeaux; his five grandchildren, Lacey (Ben) Turner, Mallori (Chris) Matthews, Natalie Gremillion, Miranda Ducote and Laine Ducote (Kelsey Hukins); two step-grandchildren, Brook Ingo and Ryan Ingo; fifteen great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Carson Redmond, Barney Ducote, Luke Redmond, Ben Turner, Laine Ducote and Christopher Matthews. Honorary Pallbearers are Tucker Reynaud, Colton Matthews and Michael Gremillion.
