Ethel Reed “CC” Smith Sims, 99, Deville

Funeral services for Ethel Reed “CC” Smith Sims will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend James White and Reverend Stephen Wells officiating. Burial will be in Big Island Baptist Church Cemetery, Deville.

Pallbearers will be James Derek Clark, Sr., Richard Beaubouef, Mark Beaubouef, C.W. Beaubouef, Stanley Beaubouef, and Keith Harmson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Reed, Jr., Shelton Reed, Lloyd Reed, and D.H. Reed.

The family requests that visitation be observed at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Sims, 99, of Deville, passed from this life on Monday, November 27, 2023.

Mrs. Sims was a member of Big Island Baptist Church, Deville. She retired from Pinecrest after working 20 plus years. CC loved canning vegetables, jams and jellies. She and B.W. enjoyed fishing, camping and had many good stories to tell at family reunions. CC’s family was her life, and she will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bertis Andrew Smith and B.W. “Curley” Sims; parents, Matt Edward Reed, Sr. and Eunice Bryant Reed; sons, Bertis Aubrey Smith and infant son, Treston Keith Smith; step-daughter, Rita Belgard; brothers, Carlton Reed, Clyde Reed, and Ezra Reed; sisters, Edna Beaubouef, Evie Beaubouef, and Ellen Marie Reed, and step-mother, Nula Lucas Reed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brothers, Shelton Reed, Matt Reed, Jr. (Janice), Lloyd “Popeye” Reed, and Daniel H. Reed (Judy); sisters, Neva “Bessie” Reed Belgard (Winford), and Vernell Reed McCarty; grandson, Anthony Smith (Kim); great grandsons, James Derek Clark, Sr. (Loretta), and Cody Alan Clark; great, great, grandson, James Derek Clark, Jr., and numerous other family and friends.
