Evelyn Ducote Caldwell, 83, Cottonport

Memorial service for Evelyn Ducote Caldwell of Cottonport will begin at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport with Fr. Charlie Ray officiating. A Rosary Prayer service will begin at 9:30am before the service. Interment will be held on a future date at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.

Evelyn D. Caldwell, age 83, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Colonial Nursing Home in Marksville. She was an honor graduate of Cottonport High School. She was a parishioner of the St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church and served as a Lector. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters Court Padre Pio, Schoenstatt Rosary Apostolate, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Evelyn’s love of St. Mary’s Assumption School began when the school opened in 1947, where she attended and graduated from elementary school. After she retired from the Lester Lemoine Insurance Agency, she started her second career as a secretary at St. Mary’s School, where she was lovingly referred to as “EDC”.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rebecca Markland; 4 grandchildren, Candace (Nick) Kreighbaum of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Jessica Jones of Scott City, Missouri, Casey (Mitch) Cambrin of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Bernard Bryan Caldwell, II of Bayou Chicot, Louisiana; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor (Jack) Allen, Ryley (Noah) McGowan, Nicholas Kreighbaum, Alexander and Cheyenne Jones, Haleigh, Makenzie, and Wyatt Cambrin, Charles and Mason Caldwell; 2 great-great-grandsons, Oakley John Allen and Ryder Edward McGowan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Caldwell; son, Bernard Bryan Caldwell; parents, Bernard Clovis Ducote & Harriet Theresa Koogleman Ducote; brothers, Irvin Ducote and Burton Ducote; son-in-law, Charles Markland, Jr.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church or St. Mary’s Assumption School.
