Florence “Sis” Gauthier DeCuir
Funeral services for Florence “Sis” Gauthier DeCuir will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville, Louisiana. Burial will be held at St. Joseph No.2 Cemetery.
Reverend Luke LaFleur will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Visitation will be held at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
Sis died in her home surrounded by family members on Saturday, November 20, 2021. She was 85.
She was the wife of Forrest Gaty DeCuir, Sr. and the mother of five children. She had 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Sis was reared in Cottonport and raised her family in Marksville. She taught grade school for 35 years in both public and parochial schools. In her profession as a teacher she touched the lives of many children. Her definition of family knew no bounds and she cherished her many friendships. Her home was always open and often filled with the laughter of those who loved her.
Sis gifted each one of us with special moments and instilled the values of family and friendship in her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Forrest Gaty, her son Tim “Bologna” DeCuir, her parents Lester Joseph Gauthier and Addie Caillouet Gauthier and siblings Elaine G. Broussard, Beverly G. Gauthier, Lester “Jr.” Gauthier, Jr., and Frank Gauthier.
She is survived by her children Forrest “Gaty” DeCuir, Jr. (Cathy), Glenn DeCuir (Terry), Stephanie “LuLu” DeCuir, and Celeste DeCuir; her siblings Ryan “Sonny” Gauthier and Peggy G. Bordelon; & her grandchildren Meghan DeCuir, Rachel DeCuir, Sarah DeCuir Ballay, Dane DeCuir, Forrest G. DeCuir, III, Jeremy Cox, and Tiffany Cox.
Pallbearers will be Forrest DeCuir III, Dane DeCuir, Pierre Gauthier, Zachary Bennett, Spencer Ballay, and Kelly O’Leary. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marc “Buddy” Dupuy III, Brent Gauthier, Jonathan Gauthier, and Jimmy Fontaine.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart School, 9968 Bayou Des Glaises St., Moreauville, LA 71355.
