George Hackney, 73,Alexandria

Mass of Christian Burial for George J. Hackney will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Father Dwight De Jesus officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

The family requests visitation be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 5:00 p.m. until.

Mr. George Hackney, 73, of Alexandria passed from this life, Saturday, February 24, 2024 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

George was a Rancher and Farmer by trade. He enjoyed tinkering on equipment, anything to do with tractors and bushhogs, horses and cows. But most of all spending time with his family. Anyone who knew him, knew how proud he was of his children and grandchildren and how much he loved them all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Syble Jeansonne Hackney; brothers, Johnny Hackney, Robert Hackney; sisters, Gertie Mae Dibble, Bonnie Broussard.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Helen Hackney, the one true love of his life; daughter, Kimberly Laborde and Patrick; sons, Greg Hackney and wife, Madeline, Rusty Hackney and wife, Katrina; brother, Darwin Hackney and wife, Cherie; sisters, Katherine Hackney and Ruth Hackney, Lulu Green (Skeeter); grandchildren, Marley Wilson (Steve), Luke Laborde (Keeley), Zach Laborde (Amanda), Elizabeth Hackney, Spencer Cash Hackney, Clarence Dibble, Ruston Hackney (Brittica), Harlynn Hackney, great grandchildren, Jude Wilson, Ashton Dibble and Addilyn Dibble, Rhenlee Deshotel; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hackney, Rusty Hackney, Luke Laborde, Zach Laborde, Clarence Dibble, Ruston Hackney, Spencer Cash Hackney and Tim Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Hackney, Terry Ducote, Darwin Hackney and Steve Wilson.

Special thanks to the Morrow, Cain and Walker families, who have been life-long friends of the Hackney’s, more family than friends. A special thank you to Dr. Wesley Davis, Dr. Ilyas Chaudhry, Vikram Nijjar and Dr. Jonathan Hunter.
