ALEXANDRIA - A private memorial service for Helen Ruth Duplissey Willis of Marksville was held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Alexandria Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Ruth, age 88 of Marksville, left this life on Sunday, July 1, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born on March 26, 1930, Ruth was simultaneously her family’s most determined critic and yet relentless supporter.  Between feeding you her most requested dishes of mac n’ cheese or cornbread dressing, to proving she knew how to have a good time on a dance floor, regardless of age or shoes, she was a constant force in the lives of her entire family.  You never left her house without food or advice, whether you wanted it or not.  She loved listening to music and reminiscing about her childhood, early marriage, and rearing her four girls (her hot house plants).
She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, R.J. Willis; daughter, Debbie Willis; parents, Richard and Mattie Duplissey; three brothers; and two sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Jenny (Robert) St. Romain of Marksville, Tammy (Joel) Fryar of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Mandy (Kyrle) Roy of Marksville; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and three sisters, Joy Young of Bridge City, Texas, Kayo Grayson of Woodworth, and Billie Jean Malone of Alexandria.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School in Cottonport or Sacred Heart Catholic School in Moreauville.
