Herbie Jo Fuqua, 83, Effie

Funeral services for Ms. Herbie Jo Fuqua will be held on Wednesday , November 1st, 2023 at 1:00 p.m in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville with Rev. Grady Dodge officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Effie, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

Ms. Fuqua, age 83, of Effie, LA. passed away on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 in Center Point, LA. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Fuqua; parents, Bernie W. And Arnez Hines Guillory; son, Randy Lane Fuqua; sister, Beckie Guillory Luneau.

Those left to cherish her memory, are her son, Rickey Lee Fuqua (Gayla) of Effie, LA.; daughter, Sheila Fuqua Hilton of Alexandria, LA. She is also survive by her grandchildren, Kyle Perry, Jessica Fuqua, Hunter Fuqua, and Slade Hilton.; great-grandchildren , Josie Cleary, River Wiley, Elijah Fuqua, Creed Fuqua, Alyssa Savage, and Caden Lucas.

Ms. Herbie, lovingly known as ”Jo Jo” was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She never met a stranger, and loved everyone who crossed her path. She had a servants heart, and loved cooking not only for her family, but for anyone in her community. She was an extremely hard worker. She was a bus driver for Lafargue school and area Avoyelles Parish schools for over 23 years. “Jo Jo” also had an at home as a daycare, where she cared for children all over the Effie and Center Point areas of the parish. Her love, kindness, and gentle smile will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday, November 1st, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Hunter Fuqua, Kyle Perry, Kevin Hodgkinson, Slade Hilton, Tristan Hines, and Caden Lucas. Honorary pallbearers will be Reggie Hines, Rickey Fuqua, River Wiley.
