Horace Joseph Dupont, 86, Melville

Funeral services for Horace Joseph Dupont, age 86, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville, LA. Pastor Rocky Warden will officiate the services. Graveside services and burial will follow in the Melville Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, in the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville.

Horace was a native of Woodside, Louisiana, and a longtime resident of Melville, Louisiana. He passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

Horace was a Christian man of the Methodist faith. He worked in the logging business for many years. He would do woodworking projects, welding work and mechanic repairs in his spare time. After his retirement, he enjoyed sitting outside on his chair drinking his coffee and watching the squirrels and birds. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joy Lee Kidder Dupont of Melville; three sons, Ronald Dupont, Sr. (Debra) of Simmesport; Mark Dupont (Yvette) of Washington; and Timothy Dupont, Sr. of Melville; one daughter, Deanna Ellis (Paul) of Melville; one brother, Charles Dupont (Sue) of Zachary; seven grandchildren: Ronald Dupont, Jr., Julia Dupont, Madelyn Dupont, Sara Lee, Joanna Bass, Timothy Dupont, Jr. and Tanner Dupont; and six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Dupont, Harley Dupont, Jacob Tate, Liam Dupont, Penny Lane Dupont, and Gracelin Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alley Dupont and Una Fontenot Dupont; his grandparents: Joseph and Beulah Dupont; and Armagine and Bertha Fontenot; and son-in-law, Joseph Bass.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Dupont, Timothy Dupont, Jr., Ron Dupont, Paul Ellis, Austin Lee, and Chris Ellis.
