John Wayne Guillot, 75, Fifth Ward

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for John Wayne Guillot at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Kurian Zachariah officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery #3 under the direction of Kramer of Fifth Ward.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 6:00 p.m. led by Deacon Darrel Dubroc. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

John Wayne Guillot, 75, of Fifth Ward, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

John Wayne was lovingly known by Mr. Big Wayne, Leroy, Bigg’n, Heavy, Papa, Daddy and Wayne. He was born in Fifth Ward, on February 25, 1947. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. John Wayne owned and operated Wayne’s Small Engine Repair for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, drinking coffee (and beer), teaching his grandkids and great grandkids how to drive a lawn mower and cut grass, and honestly, was not scared to call you out on anything.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Johnson Guillot; his daughter and son-in-law, Tonia (Scoobie) and Twyman Guillory, Jr.; his son and daughter-in-law, John Ross (JR) and Ruby Guillot; granddaughter Heather Ducote, and her husband Elvis; grandsons, Justin Guillory, Drake and Bailin Guillot and great granddaughters, Carlie and Alyssa Ducote.

He also leaves behind, his sister Lucy Dauzat; brother Harry J. Guillot; sisters-in-law, Marjorie B. Guillot, and Sandra H. Guillot; his Johnson sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Steve Juneau, Dale Lambert, Michael B. Dauzat, Jamie Guillot, Eric Guillot and Matthew Dauzat. Cross bearer honored to serve will be Gary Bordelon.
