Judy Strother, 76, Bunkie

A Mass of Christian Burial for Judy Strother will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Msgr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow in the Pythian Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mrs. Strother, age 76 of Bunkie, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Ochsner Lafayette General.
Judy worked most of her life in the banking industry. She began working at Avoyelles Bank until it closed and then at Bunkie Bank. She finished out her banking career at The Union Bank. After retirement, she enjoyed working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers.
Judy was loved by everyone and she was a people person. She stayed in contact with most of the people she worked with over the years. The light of her life was her grandchildren and the sparkle in her eyes was from her great-grandchildren. Judy will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her son, Wayne “Brother” Strother, Jr.; her parents, Tennis, Sr. and Leola Gauthier Deselle; sisters, Delores Hazelton, Virginia Gobert, Geneva Graham, Linda Andrus and Vivian Normand; brother, Richard Deselle; mother and father-in-law, L.J. and Evelyn Strother and brother-in-law, Gary Strother.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wayne “Peg Leg” Strother, Sr. of Bunkie; daughters, Sandy Firmin (Andrew) of Plaucheville and Summer Strother of Bunkie; 2 grandsons, Hunter and Tyler Firmin of Plaucheville; 2 great-grandchildren, Oakley Firmin and Ellie Firmin; brothers, Russell Deselle (Debra) of Bunkie and Tennis Deselle, Jr. of TX; Sisters, Alice Leger of Bunkie, Marrianne Williber of Bunkie; sister-in-law, Juanita Beard (Charles); brother-in-law Charles Strother (Arnita) and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will include: Andrew Firmin, Hunter Firmin, Tyler Firmin, Russell Deselle, Charles Beard and Cary Beard.
Friends may visit on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
