Justin Desoto, 36, Marksville native

A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Mr. Justin Paul DeSoto will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Wade DeCoste officiating. Interment will be held at a later date under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville.

Mr. DeSoto, age 36, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, formerly of Marksville, LA passed away on Thursday, April 4th, 2024. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Ruby DeSoto and Rena Knoll; maternal grandparents, Ellis Juneau and Norbert Courville, Jr.; one nephew, Gabe Dillon Villemarette.

Justin graduated from Marksville High School in 2005. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2007 and proudly served 9.5 years for our country. He was deployed twice to Afghanistan and Africa while serving in the Army. He dedicated a major part of his life serving his country with honor and courage. He served as a Communications Staff Sergeant in Special Forces and earned his Green Beret, as well as numerous decorations, medals, badges, and citations. After his retirement in 2016, he went continued to earn his Master’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University in Cyber Security in 2024.

Justin was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend who enjoyed living life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting on his off time, rock climbing, carpentry, and spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kellie Johnson DeSoto of New Mexico; son, Joshua of New Mexico; parents, Johnny and Martha DeSoto of Marksville; brother, Jamie DeSoto (Tina) of Marksville; sister, Stacy Villemarette (Craig) of Marksville; nephew, Garret Villemarette of Marksville; niece, Alexis Curtis (Rishanno) of FL; great nephews, Rayden and Liam Curtis of FL.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 with Deacon Ken Primeaux officiating.
