Larry Gagnard, 74, Marksville

Funeral services for Mr. Larry Joseph Gagnard will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville with Father Dan O’Connor, Deacon Gary Shupbach, and Deacon Ken Primeaux officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Joseph Mausoleum #2. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

Mr. Gagnard, age 74, of Marksville, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Hessmer Nursing Home in Hessmer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Eunice Bordelon Gagnard, brother, Steve Gagnard, sisters, Eline Redmon and Juliette Redmon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Judy Bernard Gagnard of Marksville; daughters, Sherie Johnson (Jody) of Marksville Greta Bernard (Tim) of Mansura; sister-in-law, Carol Gagnard; brother-in-law, Louis Redmon, Jr.; four grandchildren, Tyler Bernard (Kaley), Kayla Moreau (Casey), Avery Soileau, Sadie Soileau and one great grandchild, Ben Bernard.

Mr. Gagnard was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend. During his working career he worked for the State of Louisiana DOTD, retiring with 33 years of service. After his retirement, he went on to work in the agricultural department for another eight years.

There are so many things that can be said about “T- Larry.” To know him was to love him. He never met a stranger, and was always the life of the party whether he meant to be or not. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also had a passion for cooking, and could make a gravy like no one else. In his spare time, he also enjoyed being involved with the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph - Marksville Council 1217, where he earned his 3rd Degree Knight. His bubbly sense of humor, infectious smile, and willingness to love others more than himself, will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will reopen on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. until shortly before the time of services.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be, Tyler Bernard, Casey Moreau, Jody Johnson, Stevie Gagnard, T.J. Trevillion, and Todd Desselle. Honorary pallbearers will be, Tim Bernard, Glenn Desselle, Millard Sanders, Mark Trevillion and David Gaspard.
