LaShawn Anita Augustine, 48, Alexandria

Funeral Mass for LaShawn Anita Augustine of Alexandria will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Juliana Catholic Church (900 Daspit St, Alexandria, LA 71302). Burial will follow at the St. Paul Cemetery (Little Cemetery Rd., Mansura, LA). Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Juliana Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home.

LaShawn, aged 48, peacefully left this world on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 8:56am surrounded by her loving family. LaShawn, born on November 24, 1974, to Larry and Jonny Augustine, was a vibrant and strong-willed individual who touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a beacon of light, radiating love and compassion in everything she did.
With her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to holistic wellness, Lashawn was an inspiration to many. As a self-employed entrepreneur in the holistic wellness industry, she made a profound impact on countless lives, promoting physical and spiritual well-being with her infectious positivity. LaShawn's drive and ambition were unmatched, and she truly made a difference in her community.
LaShawn's legacy of love and devotion extends beyond her professional achievements. She leaves behind a grieving family who will forever cherish their shared memories. She is survived by her loving husband, Deion Duruisseau, her daughters, A'Layna, Bella, Dea, and Ja’Toi Duruisseau, her devoted father, Larry Augustine, her remarkable, mother, Jonny Augustine, and her beloved brothers, Marcus (Mary) Augustine and DJ (LaShanta) Augustine. LaShawn was also an adored aunt to her nieces: Yaree, Aliyah, Appelonia, Valynica, Gabrielle, Amani, & Shadericka; and nephews, Anthony, Devenir, & Quadarius. She held a special place in the hearts of her extended family, including her mother-in-law, Ave Marie Duruisseau, brother-in-law, Leonard (Shelia) Duruisseau; aunts, Karen Williams, Brenda Augustine, Udavine Barnes, Mildred Anderson, Joan Sergent, & Nancy Mathis; uncles, Benjamin Sampson, Sr., Stanford Sampson, Peter Sampson (Vivian) & James H. Rudolph; grandson, De’Metrius Frazier.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Julius & Leola “Dot” Sampson; and paternal grandparents, Allen Augustine & Callie and Edward Williams; uncle, Bobby Jackson; cousin, Edward D. Williams; and nephew, Antonio Haynes.
As we celebrate the incredible life of LaShawn Anita Augustine, let us remember her infectious laughter, her compassionate nature, and her unwavering commitment to those she loved. A woman of strength and resilience, she faced every obstacle with grace and bravery, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Though LaShawn may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will forever guide us. Her memory will live on in our hearts, and her legacy will continue to inspire us to be kind, compassionate, and unwavering in our pursuit of love and happiness.
