Leonard Joseph Rachal, Mansura

Leonard Joseph Rachal was born on August 25, 1923, and passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the age of 99. He was a longtime resident of Mansura, LA, and had been living in Baton Rouge in recent years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Claudine Armand Rachal.

Leonard is survived by their three children, Janella Rachal, Wayne Rachal (Carol), and Cindy Leopold (Michael). He was the loving grandfather of Austin Leopold (Katie), Allison Leopold Wood (Sam), and Mackenzie Rachal Kunze (Travis). The past few months brought him the joy of three great-grandchildren, Max Leopold, Marietta (Etta) Wood, and Kennedy Kunze. It was such a blessing that he got to meet Max and see many photos of the two girls.

Leonard went through Army Air Corps basic training in 1943 and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener over the years. He spent his professional career as a Construction Superintendent for Lemoine Bros Construction in Bunkie, LA. His focus during his retirement was woodworking and carpentry work for family and friends. His children have several of his custom handmade pieces that will be passed down to future generations. Leonard was a resident of Old Jefferson Community Care Center in Baton Rouge since November 2021. The family would like to sincerely thank the OJCCC staff and administration for the kindness and affection that they have shown him over the past months. He was under the additional care of Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for his final days. Leonard was much loved by his family and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
