Funeral service for Lisa Marie Williams of Marksville will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023 at 10:30am. Burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Cemetery in Mansura.
Lisa Marie Williams, age 49, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Courtney Williams, Destiny Johnson, Dasha Johnson, & Keyary Hall; foster father, Charles Jenkins; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Heath, Jr., Christian Heath, Deshayla Wright, & Zariah Johnson; father of her children, Donald Johnson. She is also survived by siblings, Priscilla Kelly, Rosa Pierite, Danielle Doucet, Nicole Slaughter, Robert Mayes, Ervin Williams, Donovan Mayes, & Jermaine Mayes; foster siblings, Debra Jenkins, Alicia Steptoe, Emily Johnson, Sharika Jenkins, Makiha Jenkins, Albert Jenkins, Ricky Jenkins, Shonquez Jenkins, Mez Jenkins, & Tyrese Jenkins. Those honored to be her pallbearers include: Ladarius Roy, Donovan Mayes, Tyrell Doucet, Zachariah Williams, and Michael Williams.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Mae Williams; step-father, Ervin Bibbins; foster mother, Elizabeth Jenkins; siblings, Melissa Williams, Wade Williams, & Katrelle Williams.
She touched the lives of many. As a foster child herself, she understood the importance of love, care, and compassion, which led her to become a foster parent. Lisa's nurturing spirit allowed her to raise and provide a safe and loving home for numerous children. She found immense joy in adopting Destiny Johnson and Dasha Johnson, who became her beloved daughters along with her daughters, Courtney Williams and Keyary Hall.
Professionally, Lisa dedicated her time and energy to making a difference. She served as a dedicated correctional officer at the Cottonport Women's Correctional Facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of those within the facility. Her unwavering commitment to her work was a testament to her strong character and sense of responsibility.
Lisa was known for her warm and inviting nature. She had a genuine interest in getting to know others, and making friends wherever she went. Family gatherings were particularly cherished by Lisa, as they provided an opportunity for her to strengthen the bonds with her loved ones.
Her compassionate and loving nature was balanced by her honest and straightforward approach. Lisa was a woman who could be brutally honest yet always from a place of care and concern. Her straight-shooting demeanor garnered respect and admiration from those who knew her.
In her leisure time, Lisa found peace in the rhythms of blues and gospel music. She would often be found swaying to the melodies, finding comfort and inspiration in the soulful tunes. Another pastime she enjoyed was playing bingo, where she would eagerly participate, relishing the anticipation and excitement of each call-out.
As we celebrate Lisa's life, we remember her selflessness and unwavering love that will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Lisa's legacy lives on through her loved ones and the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
