Lois Bonnette Laborde, 84, Belledeau

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Lois Bonnette Laborde on Monday, January 8th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Belledeau. with Father Blake Dubroc, and Deacon Darrell Dubroc officiating. Entombment will be held in St. Alphonsus Catholic Mausoleum under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville.

Mrs. Laborde, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024 at her residence in Hessmer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hamilton and Priscilla Dauzat Bonnette; sister, Faye Baudin; half-sisters, Lillian Caldwell, and Lillie Mae Claverie; half-brother, Herman Bonnette; grandchildren, Bradley Matthew Miller, and Hope Rylee Jeansonne.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Kermit Laborde of Hessmer; Daughters, Deborah Mitchel (Michael) of Mansura, Connie Monsour (Michael IV) of Alexandria, Sonia Roussel (Matthew) of Mansura, Stacy Jeansonne (Dana) of Hessmer, and Christy DeSoto of Marksville. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

Family was her most treasured possession, and she never missed the chance to cook for family get-togethers, go to a birthday party, or cheer on her grandchildren at sporting events. She was devoted to her catholic faith, and a member of the St. Martin of Tours Altar Society for over 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors, and excelled at gardening. Lois was also well known for her expertise in baking homemade breads and sweets, and she enjoyed sharing her treats with people all over the community. Her beautiful smile was one of a kind, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7th, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Marksville. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. officiated by Deacon Darrell Dubroc. Visitation will resume the following day from 8:00 a.m. until shortly before time to proceed to the church for funeral mass.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Matthew Jeansonne, Wesley Miller, Jarred Mitchel, Jake DeSoto, Michael Monsour V, Bryan Mitchel, William Miller, and Thomas Huff.
