Marjorie Roy, 92, of Mansura

Memorial services for Mrs. Marjorie Pullen Roy will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville with Brother Keith Lamartiniere officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

Mrs. Roy, age 92, of Mansura passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.

Marjorie began working for the Green Thumb Program in 1981. From 1984 until her retirement in 1996, she was the state director of the program in Louisiana and Mississippi. She was a pioneer in the first Mansura Cochon De Lait Festival Celebration in 1960 with her husband, Mayor Kirby A. Roy, Jr. whom is considered the Father of the Cochon De Lait. In the early 1990’s, Marjorie along with Mayor Harold Quebedeaux were crowned King and Queen of the Festival. She also served as president of the Mansura Chamber of Commerce from 1988-1989 and Chairman of the 1989 Cochon De Lait Festival. She worked many years following her tenure, volunteering and helping with the festival parades

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby A. Roy Jr.; two grandchildren, Amanda A. Roy, Kain J. Roy; parents, Charles “Big Daddy” Walter Pullen, Verlie “Big Momma” Pullen; one brother, Ernie Pullen.

Those left to cherish her memory are her cat “Lady”; one son, Kirby A. Roy III (Samantha) of Hessmer; Three daughters, Naomi “Ci-Ci” Roy of Mansura, Jill Serpas (Ronal) of Covington, Kim Ackel (Barry) of Alexandria; Three Sisters, Archie “Nookie” Poole, Wally Smith and LeaAnn Switzer; close family friend, John Johnson; 9 grandchildren, Ryan Bordelon, Erica Dupuy, Brandon Roy, Nicholas Bordelon, Kirby A. Roy IV, Alexandra Schlacter, Shae Gullatt, Zachary Ackel, and Megan Johnson, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.
