Mary Batiste Thomas, 82, Marksville

Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mary Batiste Thomas will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Father Derek Ducote officiating. Interment will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery in Hessmer, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville, LA.

Mrs. Thomas, age 82, of Marksville, LA. passed on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester “Bascom” and Virginia Corner Batiste; son, Efton Thomas, Jr.; brother, Lester “Jerry” Batiste, Jr.; sisters, Mary Jackson, Alice Wright, and Ophelia Batiste; grandchild, Lindsey Thomas.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Daisey Fryer of Baltimore, MD and Vernell Thomas of Marksville, LA.; sister, Sophie Batiste of Houston, TX.; grandchildren, Brandon Thomas, Fanchon Fryer, Kholiene Armstrong, Adam Thomas, Amber Thomas; great grandchildren, Brayla Sampson, Daykwon Guillot, Jontae Austin, Johnathan Austin, Noah Lavalais; great great grandchild, Kaleb Augustine, Jr.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be, Noah Lavalais, Jontae Austin, Johnathan Austin, Brandon Thomas, Adam Thomas, and Morris Ravare.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.
