Newman Ray Smith, age 84, of Effie

Funeral services for Mr. Newman Ray Smith will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brother Funeral Home with Rev. Aubrey Tyler and Bro. Richard Rambo officiating. Burial will be held at St. Winifred Catholic Cemetery in Effie, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Mr. Newman Ray Smith, age 84, of Effie, LA. passed away on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA.
Mr. Newman is preceded in death by his parents, Otho and Maybell Vercher Smith; daughter, Allison Ann Smith; brother, Clinton Smith.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Joanne Ponthieux Smith of Effie, LA.; daughters, Sharon Dauzat of Effie, LA. and Joan Ebey (Keenan) of Center Point, LA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Regina Dauzat, Hannah Dauzat, and Hunter Ebey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home and reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16th, 2022. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Father Paul Kunnumpuram.
