Nora Jeansonne Descant, 79, Hessmer

Funeral Mass for Nora Descant of Hessmer will take place at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Hessmer on Monday, May 1st, 2023 beginning at 11:00am with Rev. Edwin Rodriguez-Hernandez officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.

Nora Jeansonne Descant, age 79, was a native of Moreauville and resident of Grand Isle but lived in Hessmer. She passed away at her home in Hessmer on Wednesday, April 26th, 2023.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Wayne Descant (Millie) of Grand Isle, Eric Descant (Karen) of Hessmer; Tommy Descant (Missy) of LaRose, Julie Milazzo (Maurice) of Plaquemine, Tammy Rhodes (Christopher) of Houma; son-in-law, Philip Cavell of Houma; sisters; Ida Gaspard, Marion Bordelon (Scottie), Victoria Armand (Keith), Delaine Rattan (Richard); brother, Kenneth Jeansonne (Debbie).
She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 6 step great grandchild and 15 step great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus & Rita Jeansonne., husband, Newman Descant; daughter, Caroline Cavell; great granddaughter Brieanna Descant; Brothers, Patrick Jeansonne, Leonard Jeansonne, Eddie Jeansonne, Wayne Jeansonne, and Errol Jeansonne.

Visitation will commence from 9:00am on Monday, May 1st, 2023 until 10:30am at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura.
