Pierre Bernard, 90, Marksville

Funeral services for Mr. Pierre Bernard will be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville with Reverend Keith Lamartiniere officiating. Interment will be held at the Kelone - Our lady of Lourdes #2 Cemetery in Fifth Ward, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville.

Mr. Bernard, age 90, of Marksville, LA., passed away on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 at Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center in Mansura, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvan and Leontine Guillot Bernard; brothers, Alfred Bernard, and Huey Bernard; sisters, Viola Bernard, Genevieve Rollins, and Sylvia Dauzat.

Pierre was kind, friendly, and strong. Although his life dealt him many obstacles and challenges, he considered each day as a new blessing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, crawfishing, gardening, woodworking, and his many trips to Walmart. In his younger days he enjoyed working at the old Bonnette’s Grocery Store in Fifth Ward. His greatest accomplishment was living life to the fullest and loving everyone in a way that he would want to be loved, especially his family. He never met a stranger and will forever be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his extended Lamartiniere family, “lulu”, and close friends.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Phillip Lamartiniere, Joseph Difulco, Simmon Manning, James Mayeaux, Keith Juneau, and Gene Mayeaux.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5th, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville with recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon Darrell Dubroc officiating. Visitation will reopen on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until shortly before time of services.
