Robert (Bob) Smith Coco 83, Moreauville

Robert (Bob) Smith Coco 83, of Moreauville passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, in the Hessmer Nursing Home.

Funeral Mass for Bob Coco will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville with Father Brian Seiler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Bob was born in Marksville, LA and lived there with his parents, Esther and Bobbie Coco along with his brother Eugene (Gene) and sister Carol. He graduated from Menard High School in Alexandria and completed a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Math and Physics from Louisiana Tech. Bob proudly served the military in the branch of the U.S. Army for a period after college. After serving in the military, he had many roles including a teacher at Simmesport High School and a time at the City of Lafayette. Bob then joined Louisiana State University working in the Registrar’s Office at the Baton Rouge campus. After a few years, he decided to move his family home to Mansura to finish his career at LSU-Alexandria becoming the Director of the Computer Center. Bob was one of the pioneers in computer science, writing code and creating programs for the college over his 30-year career with LSU.

Bob was a scholar with a logical mind, adept at math and physics. He also was an avid reader and poet at heart. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, cabinets, and the home in which he raised his family. He spent time as a cattleman raising Santa Gertrudis and going to every basketball game, cow show and 4-H event that any one of his six daughters and later, grandchildren, were participating in. He also served on the Moreauville and Mansura Volunteer Fire Departments. When he wasn’t using his fireman’s coat to fight fires, he used the warm coat to feed the cows during the cold winter months. He was a member of the Louisiana Cattleman’s Association and the Cenla Daylily Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents Esther and Bobbie Coco and two grandchildren Benjamin Michael Serrano and Nina Coco-Senyszyn.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 57 years, Mary Arceneaux Coco of Moreauville; six daughters: Bobbie Anne Serrano (Jeff) of Katy, TX; Claire Marie Coco (Richard Senyszyn) of New Braunfels, TX; Esther Louise Coco-Boe (David) of Mansura, LA; Anna Ruth Coco (Bruce Templeton) of Lake Wales, FL; Carey Elizabeth Coco (Christopher Mason) of Winter Haven, FL and Julie Dominica Inman (James) of Prairieville, LA; his sister, Carol Coco Lee of Houston, TX; brother, Gene Coco (Linda) of Katy, TX and his brothers-in-law James Arceneaux of Los Angeles, CA and Benjamin Arceneaux of Lafayette, LA.

Pawpaw (Bob)’s Grandchildren: Luke Vanderlick, William Vanderlick, Katie Coco-Senyszyn, Kevin Coco-Senyszyn, Martin Vanderlick, Joseph Serrano, Mariana Templeton, Anna Serrano, Collin Mason, Ken Coco-Senysyzn, Lyla Inman, Isabella Serrano, Cade Mason, Cora Inman, Stephanie Green, Brandon Templeton (Courtney), Christopher Templeton, Tyler Boe and Cayla Boe. His great grandchildren Skylarr Webb, Liam Webb, Elias Green, Macsen Green, Joon Templeton, Stella Williamson and Natalie Templeton.

The family would like to thank All Saints Hospice, Hessmer Nursing Home, Karen Ricaud, Kim Lachney and Pastor Mark Crawford.
