Ruby Dammon, 99, Bunkie

On Monday June 7th, 2021 Ruby Kathryn “Kitty” Fluke Munson Dammon, loving wife and mother passed away peacefully at the age of 99 in Bunkie, LA. Kitty was born on March 15th, 1922 in Alexandria, the daughter of George Fluck and Alma (Baynard) Stevens. She had one brother George C. “Jack” Fluck Jr. (1925-2011).

For 55 years Kitty was married (on April 21, 1941) to Robert Jackson Munson, Sr. and stood beside him throughout his career as a farmer and Louisiana State Representative. They lived at Witchwood in Cheneyville until moving to Alexandria in 1981. During that time, she had a dress shop on Main St. in Cheneyville.

Kitty had three children, Pamela Munson English (born 1945) (Bill) and Robert Munson, Jr. (1950-2015) (Tracy), both of Baton Rouge, and Thomas Eugene "Tom" Munson (born 1951) of Cheneyville. Her nine grandchildren include Kathryn “Tiki” Ryan McIntyre (William), Colleen Ryan Perniciaro (Jay), Robert J Munson (Sarah), Leigh Munson Neri (Michael), Morgan Anne Munson, Myles Munson (Michelle), Magan Munson Hutchens (Chris), Kip English, Allison English Michel (Martin). Kitty had many great-grandchildren.

Following Robert’s death Kitty married an old high-school sweetheart Lt. Col. Lee O. Dammon, Jr. They had 15 happy years traveling and enjoying life together until his death in 2012.

Whether entertaining friends at her home, at their camp at Indian Creek, in Baton Rouge or on the road, Kitty was a fabulous host, wonderful cook, and always impeccably dressed. She truly enjoyed life and wanted everyone around her to also. A trusted confidant, Kitty had many friends. Her love for travel around the world and in their RV tailgating at LSU Football games, with the “Crusin’ Cajuns” and around the country brought her great enjoyment. Decorating her home, entertaining, planning parties gave her true passion as she was a member of the Garden Club, Mardi Gras krewe & other Louisiana pastimes.

Kitty will be missed dearly by her family and friends at Bailey Place where she lived for the last 3 years. Special thanks to the many caregivers she had. We truly appreciate it.

There will be a graveside service for Kitty at Trinity Episcopal Church in Cheneyville for family only. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to Trinity Episcopal Church P.O. Box 223 Cheneyville, LA 71325, or a charity of your choice.
