Ruth Bordelon, 85, Bordelonville native

Ruth Ann Bordelon of Thibodaux, LA was called home to Our Lord on March 11, 2022 at the age of 85. She was born on March 19, 1936 and raised on a small farm in Bordelonville, LA. As the oldest child and only child for nine years, she could tell stories of picking cotton

in the fields with her father and learning to drive a tractor at a very early age. From her mother, she learned to sew and would sport a new dress come Easter time. She later moved to Franklin, LA where her three children were born and then to Thibodaux where she raised her family and spent the rest of her life.

For over fifteen years, Ruth worked at Lafourche National Bank in Thibodaux where she made many lifelong friends. From a modest start at a gas station, she later ran her own business, Canal BBQ, to the delight of many patrons who ate her brisket, ribs, and beignets.

Ruth enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She cherished nothing more than baking a cake for a friend’s celebration. She entertained on her bayou deck, frequently hosted happy hour, loved cooking and chocolate. With her friends, she hosted Nicholls State Culinary School foreign students at her bayou-side home. She was thoughtful and generous in giving gifts to others, and she kept up with technology helping her friends with it. She enjoyed gardening and till the very end nurtured plants on her patio. She loved sports and was an avid LSU and Saints fan. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur O. Bordelon, Jr. and Lela Desselle Bordelon, and grandson Justin Talbot.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Kim Talbot (Robbie); her two sons Craig Bordelon and Wayne Bordelon Jr (Maria); her brother Richard Bordelon (Mae); grandchildren Ryan Talbot, Emilie Cantu (Matt), Laura Vaughn (Tom), Bridget Crain (Brandon), and Gregory Bordelon; her former spouse Wayne Bordelon Sr; eight great-grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial Mass on Thursday, March 17 at 10 am at Divine Mercy Chapel at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center in Thibodaux, LA.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 19 at 10 am with burial following at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bordelonville, LA.
