Ryan Gauthier, 93

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Ryan "Sonny" Ignatius Gauthier on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. John Wiltz officiating. A Rosary Service will precede the mass at 9:45 a.m. Entombment will follow the mass in the St. Mary's Cemetery #1 Mausoleum under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie. No visitation prior to the service.
Mr. Gauthier, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at his residence in Cottonport. "Sonny" was a 1946 graduate of Cottonport High School and attended Springhill College in Mobile, AL. He retired as a millwork sales representative in the lumber industry. For many years he served as a volunteer for the Cottonport Fire Department. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1199 of St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church. He also served on various committees and many ministries of St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church and elementary school.
"Mr. Sonny" will be best remembered as a great story teller and was very eager to share many tales of his Cottonport heritage. His most cherished possession was his wife, Kathleen, for over seventy-three years and his endearing love of all his family and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Addie Gauthier.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-three years, Mary Kathleen Gremillion Gauthier of Cottonport; his three daughters, Faye Gauthier Fontaine and husband, James, of New Roads, Lauren Gauthier Ducote of Cottonport and Lydie Gauthier Landry and husband, Thomas, of Youngsville; his son, Ted Gauthier and wife, Joylynn, of Cottonport; his sister, Peggy Gauthier Bordelon of Fifth Ward; his ten grandchildren, Carrie (Patrick) Clements, Lawrence (Lauren) Thevenot, Emily Fontaine Sarullo, James (Jennifer) Fontaine, Jr., Danielle (Chris) Worley, Adam (Julie) Gauthier, Mary Kathleen Ducote, Ryan Landry, Camille Landry and Luke Landry and seven great grandchildren, Alyssa and Kasen Gauthier, Jules, Piper Jane and Charles Sarullo, Audrey Thevenot and James Fontaine, III.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are his grandchildren and spouses. Honorary Pallbearers are Pierre Gauthier, Sammy Gauthier, Jonathan Gauthier, Frank Bordelon, Glen Decuir, Donald Gremillion, Lane "Rocky" Gauthier and Michael Thevenot.
On behalf of our entire family, we would like to send our sincere thanks to the staff at Faith Foundation Hospice and the wonderful sitters who took such special care of him. We feel blessed and are deeply grateful to have had the most compassionate team watching over him in his final days.
