Shirley Wilson Haggard, 67, Simmesport

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance, that we announce Shirley Wilson Haggard, age 67, a loved long-time resident of Simmesport Louisiana, entered into her eternal resting place on September 19th, 2021.

Shirley Haggard was born April 29, 1954 in South Haven, Michigan. She was raised in Michigan where she would meet her husband of over 45 years. She married Paul Haggard Jr. on March 4, 1972. They started a family and eventually moved to Simmesport, where she remained until her passing. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother. She not only looked after her own children but also any child that may have crossed her path. She was actively involved with the church and took great joy spreading her infectious love of the Lord with anyone willing to listen.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Paul Haggard III (Sheryl); daughters Shelly Haggard and Paula Haggard (Martin); eight beloved grandchildren, Andy Haggard, Blake Bowman, Brandon Baker Jr, Alyssa Baker, Martin Donaghey Jr., Gaven Haggard, Joshua Donaghey, and Loagen Haggard; four great grandchildren, Brandon Baker III, Leland Baker, Dakota Bowman, and Joseph Haggard; her father, Kenneth Wilson; brothers and sisters, Mark Wilson (Laurie), Cecil Wilson (Kellie), Steven Wilson (Debbie), Glenda Edwards (Neil), Kenneth Wilson Jr (Penny), Marlene Brown (Jerry), Patty Willis (Drew), and Marvin Wilson (Pam); she also leaves her extended town family.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Paul Haggard Jr; her mother, Audrey Wilson; and her grandson, Gage Paul Bowman.

Visitation will be held at Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 2:00pm for immediate family and 3:00pm to 10:00pm for the public. Funeral service will be held at Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Viewing will begin at 8:00am until the time of service at 10:00am. Service will be immediately followed by interment at the Heart of Worship Church in Lettsworth, Louisiana.

Arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
