Vincent Barrone, age 93 of Bunkie

A Mass of Christian Burial for Vincent Barrone will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino, V.G. officiating. Burial will follow in the Pythian Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Barrone, age 93 of Bunkie, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Bunkie.
Mr. Barrone worked at the Daily World in Opelousas as a pressman and in photography then moved to Bunkie and worked at The Bunkie Record for many years as a Linotype operator and pressman. He was one of a few Linotype operators in the United States. He owned and operated a printing business in Bunkie for 61 years. After retiring he worked at the Paragon Casino as a slot attendant for 4 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Mae Stelly Barrone; son, Vincent Barrone, Jr.; and his siblings, Tony Barrone, Frances B. Leonard, Rosie Barrone, Mackie Whitten, Joe Barrone and Sam Barrone.
Survivors include his daughters, Glenda Lee of Bunkie, and Jacqueline B. Harris (Al) of Bunkie; his grandchildren, Gilbert Gillie Johnson, Jr. (Pamm), Brent Johnson (Hope), Brandon Barrone (Megan), and Cameron Lee (Rebecca); two step-grandchildren, Michael Harris and Michele Harris; 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include: Gilbert Johnson, Jr., Brent Johnson, Cameron Lee, Brandon Barrone, Daniel Ferguson and Robbie Lutz.
Friends may visit on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
