Virginia “Jenny” Foster McGehee, 78, Mansura

Funeral services for Virginia “Jenny” Foster McGehee will be held on Thursday, December 14th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville with Father Dan O’Connor and Deacon Ken Primeaux officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville.

Ms. McGehee, age 78, passed away on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at her residence in Mansura. She is preceded in death by her son, Blake McGehee, Sr.; parents, Artha O’Neal, Sr., and Lurline Deville Hale; brother, Jackie Foster; sister, Jo Ann Newbill.

“Jenny” as she was lovingly known, was a true caregiver at heart. She was devoted to taking care of her family, as well as serving her community in times need. At an early age, she knew that she wanted to be a nurse. She went on to graduate from LSUA in 1983, and began her career as an RN. During her working life, she worked for both Avoyelles Hospital, and Rapides Regional Medical Center. She later retired with over 30 years of service in the nursing field. Her gentle smile, goofy jokes, and humble personality will always be cherished by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Louis Foster (Beryl) of Colorado, Artha O’Neal Hale, Jr. (Penny), and Mark Hale, Sr. (Brenda) both of Marksville LA; sisters, Sheila Dauzat (David) of Belledeau, LA, Cindy Dupont (James) of Dupont, LA, Kathleen “Kathy” H. Dauzat (Ray) of Moncla, LA, and Pam Hale of Marksville, LA. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Blake “B.J.” McGehee, Jr., and Alecia Kay McGehee.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14th, 2023 from 9:000 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville. The family requests that recitation of the Holy Rosary, be held at 10:30 a.m.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Artha O’Neal Hale, Jr., Blake “B.J.” McGehee, Jr., Mark Hale, Jr., Eric Hale, Lane Hale, and Ray Dauzat.
