Obituary for Bradley Paul Dauzat
Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Mr. Bradley Paul Dauzat will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville, Louisiana with Father Brian Seiler officiating. Visitation will start at 9:00am, eulogy at 10:00, rosary at 10:30, Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 11:00. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Marksville, Louisiana.
Mr. Dauzat, age 55, of Marksville, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at his residence in Effie, Louisiana.
Brad graduated from Marksville High School in 1988 then joined the National Guard Unit, 527 Engineering. From there he was sent to Desert Storm where his unit built an airstrip in Iraq for the war effort.
Brad went to UL in Lafayette, got an Engineering Degree and continued his education at Southern Law School where he earned a Juris Doctorate. He then came home to Marksville and started practicing law. Brad became the District Chief of the Public Defender office for Avoyelles Parish. He was instrumental in securing funding for new Public Defender office in 2020. He retired on June 17,2020 but stayed until a new chief was installed. He earned the respect of all those he touched in his legal profession, and from all those who knew and came to love him, including all those who hunted and fished with him.
Those left to cherish his memories include his father, Russell Dauzat of Marksville; mother, Cynthia Plauche Flanders and stepfather, David Flanders, Sr. of Mansura; brother, Clint Dauzat of Marksville; nephews, Bronson Dauzat (Hailey) of Pineville, and Luke Dauzat (Erika) of Alexandria, all of Louisiana.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
