Gilbert Maillet

Gilbert “Pappy” Maillet, native of Marksville, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at the age of 78. Born November 28, 1947 to Gilbert and Corrine Maillet.
Pappy had a full life, graduating from Marksville High School in 1965. He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard, using the Veteran GI Bill to obtain a Business Degree from Northwest Louisiana University in 1972. He raised his family with Diana Brocato in Baton Rouge, active in the Most Blessed Sacrament Men’s Club. Later living in various areas of central Louisiana and eastern Texas before settling back down in Marksville, joining the Lions Clubs Chapter, where he was President for four years. An Avid hunter, fishman, scratch golfer, and LSU sports fan... He was a Business Entrepreneur, bringing that ‘can-do’ attitude to whatever business venture he worked on.
Pappy knew how to handle most difficult situations with a smile and reassuring attitude that everything will be OK.
Gilbert is survived by his son, Brian Maillet (Peggy) and daughter Julie Lepisto, his
grandchildren, Alex Lepisto, Olivia Maillet, Caitlyn Rogers, Ruby Maillet, and Louis Maillet, his siblings Sandra Mahdavi (Abbas) and Janet Regard, and his stepsons Nathan Means (Cheryl, and their sons Brandon and Dylan) and Colby Means (Heather).
He was preceded in death by his wife Joy Maillet, parents, Gilbert and Corrine Bordelon Maillet; sister Carol Curley, brother Gail J. Maillet; and brother-in-law Jules Regard.


We all appreciate all of Pappy’s friends and caregivers that made his last days comfortable especially Valley View Nursing Home and Allegiance Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2025 at Hixon Brothers Funeral Home 445 W Bon Temps St, Marksville, LA 71351 from 8:00AM to 9:45AM, with a church service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 141 S Washington St, Marksville, LA 71351 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM, followed by a gathering after the service to reminisce and talk about Pappy’s life and legacy.


Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville have been entrusted with the arrangements.
