Obituary for Nicholas Bernard Thomas

Funeral services for Nicholas Bernard Thomas, 42, will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte, with burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Father Stephen Pellessier will officiate the Funeral Mass.

Nicholas, a resident of Lafayette and Ville Platte, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Lafayette General Hospital.

Nicholas was a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures and especially treasured the time he spent with those he loved. He had an adventurous spirit and loved being outdoors, whether hiking a trail or spending a peaceful day fishing. He also enjoyed working on things and had a natural interest in mechanics. An avid reader, Nicholas could often find enjoyment and relaxation within the pages of a good book.

Of all the things that brought Nicholas happiness, nothing compared to being a father. His boys, Nolan and Rees, were the center of his world. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, especially the simple moments of playing together, laughing, and making memories. The love he had for his sons was immeasurable, and the memories they shared with their father will forever remain a precious part of his legacy.

Nicholas will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his mother, Susan Marie Soileau Fruge and husband Douglas of Lafayette; his father, Allen Keith Thomas, Sr. of Bordelonville; stepmother Cheryl Brash; his sons, Nolan Kai Thomas of Beaumont, Texas, and Rees Eric Thomas of Lafayette; his brothers, Allen Keith Thomas, Jr. and wife Amber of Houston, Ray Dempsey Thomas of Opelousas, and Ashton Luke Thomas and wife Danielle of Houston; his sister, Maegan Thomas Cummings and husband Russ of Youngsville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli D. Thomas, Ray Burke Soileau, and Betty Soileau; and his twin brothers, Peter and Paul Thomas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, in the LaVille Funeral Home Chapel from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 8:00 AM until the time of services.

Nicholas leaves behind a life filled with cherished memories and a family who loved him dearly. Though his time with them was far too short, the love he gave - especially the love he had for his boys - will remain in their hearts always. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
