Public Safety Announcement: 2026 Louisiana Corn Festival

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that deputies will be assigned and actively working throughout the 2026 Louisiana Corn Festival in Bunkie, beginning Thursday, June 11, and continuing through Saturday, June 13, at the request of Corn Festival staff.

Sheriff David L. Dauzat said the Sheriff’s Office will be working alongside the Bunkie Police Department and the Raymond Laborde Correctional Center Tactical Response Team in a joint effort to help ensure the safety of festival-goers throughout the weekend.

The Louisiana Corn Festival is an annual celebration honoring the importance of agriculture in the region and recognizing a local corn farmer each year. The festival includes a carnival, food booths, arts and crafts, cooking contests, a children’s parade, corn shucking and corn eating competitions, softball tournaments, nightly live music and dancing in the streets.

The parade will roll at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13.

Festival safety rules include:

No hoodies
No glass bottles
No outside drinks
No weapons of any kind, including guns and knives
No entering or exiting the fairgrounds with alcoholic beverages
No loitering in the parking lot
No animals, except service animals
Clear bags only

All individuals are subject to search upon entry by Corn Festival staff.

Anyone needing emergency assistance during the festival should notify a deputy on site or call 911. For non-emergencies, the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 318-253-4000.
