🦃 Ready for Turkey Season? Join the Hunter Education Course!
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will host a Hunter Education Course later this month at the Moreauville Fire Station, located across from Avoyelles High School.
The class will be held:
- Friday, March 21 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday, March 22 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants must attend both sessions to receive certification.
Officials note that participants must be at least 10 years old to become certified. The course provides instruction on:
- Firearm safety
- Hunting regulations
- Wildlife conservation
- Responsible hunting practices

The class comes just ahead of Louisiana’s upcoming turkey hunting season. The Youth Turkey Hunt is scheduled for March 28–29, followed by the opening of the regular turkey season on April 3.
