πŸŽ€ Sewing Sisters Bring Joy to Foster Kids with Handmade Toy Bags 🎁

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the Sewing Sisters, Donna Mayeaux, Peggy Callegari, and Paula Brouillette, gathered to craft dozens of handmade sacks that will become toy bags for children in foster care. Their goal is to bring joy and comfort to young boys and girls who have often experienced great hardship and currently have no permanent parents.

The group met for an all-day sewing session, using colorful fabrics and sturdy patterns to create whimsical, durable drawstring bags perfect for holding toys and small gifts. This project is one of the ways the Sewing Sisters give back to the community through their time and talents.

The finished bags will be delivered to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a nonprofit that supports abused and neglected children navigating the court system. CASA is currently accepting new, unwrapped toys and gifts for boys and girls of all ages in foster care. Popular items include:

  • Stuffed animals
  • Books
  • Art supplies
  • Board games
  • Dolls
  • Action figures
  • Sports equipment

With thousands of children in foster care across the region, many arriving with only the clothes they are wearing, simple gestures like a handmade toy bag filled with gifts can make a lasting difference in their lives. The bags not only carry toys but also send a quiet message to each child that they are seen, remembered, and cared for by their community.

The Sewing Sisters’ holiday drive continues through mid-December. Community members are encouraged to drop off toy donations at CASA offices or designated collection points. Volunteers are also welcome to help with sewing, sorting, or filling the bags.

In a season that celebrates giving, the Sewing Sisters remind everyone that even small acts of kindness, whether a stitch, a toy, or a helping hand, can brighten the life of a child in need.
