Shooting Near LSU Campus Leaves Two Injured; Investigation Ongoing

The Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening near Highland Road and Dalrymple Drive, by the north gate of the LSU campus.

Students and faculty received a campus alert urging them to avoid the area as officers responded to the scene.

According to Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services, two people were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Investigators believe one of the victims was the intended target of the gunfire.

BRPD confirmed that two individuals have been detained, and multiple firearms were recovered at the scene. Officials added that the shooting was connected to a separate event on campus, and was not directly related to university activities.

“The investigation is ongoing,” BRPD officials stated.
