🐄 St. Joe Student Excels at LSU Livestock Show!

Avoyelles Parish was represented at the 2026 LSU AgCenter Livestock Show, where junior exhibitors competed in the Junior Angus Show on Feb. 20. The event featured 54 entries from across the state, highlighting the skills and dedication of young livestock participants.

Among the top finishers was Mary Moreau of Hessmer, a fourth-grade student at St. Joseph Elementary School in Plaucheville, who earned third place in junior showmanship. The competition recognizes exhibitors not only for their animals, but also for their ability to present and handle livestock in the show ring.

Local participation in the annual event continues to reflect the strong agricultural roots of Avoyelles Parish and the commitment of its youth to livestock programs.
