📝 Tee Alphonse Sez
It’s already getting political in the parish
I know it’s early in the political season, but Tee Alphonse has already seen signs popping up like raccoons in a sweet corn patch. Let’s take a little paddle through what’s shaping up so far.
Over in Marksville, we got Junkyard Jon running against Carl Chapstick.
Carl’s already got signs out and has been showing up at every event from cook-offs to church fairs. He’s shaking hands, smiling for pictures, and making sure folks remember who he is.
Junkyard Jon, on the other hand, seems to be betting that the people who voted for him before will do it again without much effort. It’s too early to call, but it’s interesting to see one of them already out there hustling while the other is still warming up his campaign engine.
Now let’s roll over to Bunkie. Word around the parish is that a retired state trooper, the one who wrote just about everybody a ticket back in the day, might be jumping into the race. If he didn’t give you a ticket, he probably called a foul on you during a basketball game.
Then there’s Super Cop Brandon Horton, who’s the assistant chief right now. In Bunkie, it never really mattered what color you were or what your last name was. If the people think you’re fair, you’ve got a shot at winning.
From where Tee Alphonse is sitting, if Super Cop Brandon keeps treating folks right and keeps his campaign clean, he’s got a good chance of winning. That’s my early prediction, but I’ll reserve the right to change my mind once I see how the campaign heats up.
It’s early, but make no mistake, the season’s already starting to boil in the parish. Be sure and pick up the paper in your driveway next week when we’ll talk about who has said they’re running for judge and district attorney next year.
