🔥 The Ultimate Boudin Battle in Avoyelles! 🍽️

All right, I’ve tried my fair share of boudin around Avoyelles, and I think most folks would agree that Juneau’s is hard to beat. It’s cooked just right every time and always tastes the same, which says a lot. The only thing is, it’s got a good bit of kick to it. Some people like that, but it can sneak up on you if you’re not ready.

Shawn’s over in Bunkie has a good link too. It’s nice and meaty, and you can tell they put care into it. I like mine with a little more pepper, but that one still hits the spot.

Swoles always has something good cooking, and their boudin is no different. Everything they serve has flavor, and the boudin fits right in with that.

I haven’t made it to Durand’s or Big John’s yet, but I can tell you Bordelon’s makes some fine smoked sausage and syrup sausage that reminds me of old-time Plaucheville cooking.

Still, if you’re asking for my pick for the best boudin in Avoyelles, I’ve got to hand it to Y-Not Stop. You can get it frozen or straight out the hot box, and it’s always ready. It’s got this tangy flavor that tells you somebody really worked to get that recipe just right.

So that’s my take. I’ve tasted a few links in my day, and I’m claiming the title of best boudin tester in the parish. I’ll be waiting to see if I win that gift certificate, maybe I’ll use it to buy another pack of Y-Not’s finest.

Editor’s Note:

The Great Avoyelles Boudin Showdown is off to a strong start, and we already have some serious contenders for the title of Parish Boudin Connoisseur. This week’s entry comes from Dave Martin, who’s made his way across Avoyelles sampling links from one end of the parish to the other. He’s got opinions, a good sense of humor, and maybe a little heartburn to prove it.
